Obviously we have to be as passionate in talking about our wine as we are about making it, but as our name also suggests, we like to think of Miles from nowhere as being a little off the mainstream track. Our focus is to produce serious wine in a serious package, yet retain the essential ingredients of excitement, fun and enjoyment.

Just like us, our winemaker is the young and vibrant Oenologist Jodie Opie. Joining her at the helm is industry veteran Franklin Tate. The Opie & Tate team bring extensive depth, knowledge and passion to Miles from nowhere.

Jodie loves the elegant refined style of wines that are the hallmark of the Margaret River region. “For me, a great wine is fruit driven and clean with good complexity and texture”, she says. “I love the diversity of the Margaret River region, which is all about lifestyle and the best of everything – the ocean, fine art, fine food, and especially – fine wines”.

Franklin Tate, having guided his family's Margaret River winemaking business to iconic status, needs little introduction.

They say you never get a second chance to do something you love. Of course that is just what Miles from nowhere is. Franklin Tate always wanted to do something really special, unique and distinct, that from the ground up truly expressed what was unique about the ‘terroirs’ of Margaret River. We are sure his forefathers would approve!
